Four years since receiving a $1.8 billion gift from the estate of Mrs. Joan Kroc - the largest, individual philanthropic gift ever bestowed to any one charitable organization – more than one-third of planned centers are either open or under construction. By the end of 2009, the Army will be operating seven centers across the country – in Ashland, OH; Atlanta, GA; Coeur d’Alene, ID; Omaha, NE; Salem, OR; San Francisco, CA; and the original Kroc Center in San Diego, CA.
